The Schmitt Biomimetic Charitable Foundation was started by Otto just before he died. The Board of Directors adopted the following mission statement in May of 1999: "The Schmitt Biomimetic Charitable Foundation exists in order to preserve a record of the unique life and contributions of Dr. Otto H. Schmitt and to advance his work and thought." The Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c3) charity that accepts tax deductible donations. The Schmitt Foundation went out of business in early 2005. Please do NOT send any more donations.
