Thank you for the article from Otto that you sent me, 1 received it yesterday. It's very interesting and valuable. I wanted to let you know what I have been doing with some of Otto's things that I borrowed: The torso had several leaks at its base, but Larry Stradal, our technician here at the lab sealed it perfectly using Marine epoxy. I have been using the torso to make impedance experiments^ so that I can verify computer models, I don't have the motorized servo arm that Otto used, but I make do with a hardwood grid arrangement. I tried the stereo camera, taking pictures of some of the "Christmas trees" (the name Otto would probably like we use is "lead sensitivity models", where each "tree" is a model for a particular electrocardiographic lead system- For example there are some models for systems proposed by Duchosal, Frank, etc). The camera jams and does not allow rewinding. I had to open it in a dark closet to extract the film. The pictures that survived are OK. I was able to view them using the pocket stereo viewer. Regarding the larger device made of wood and mirrors, if you recall, the one where you fix some papers with tracings and you look through prisms: this is a stereo viewer for the vectorcardiogram. It is interesting to see the stereo tracings, but only one such tracing exists printed on that paper that came with the device. 1 digitized that vectorcardiogram using, a common scanner,, and then using red-blue 3D eyeglasses you can get a stereo viewing effect on a computer screen. These glasses are cheap and they give them away at promotional events, or can be ordered over the internet. I then made a computer animation of the vectorcardiogram. The VCG loop gradually spins around, and the viewer can see its relation to a conventional ECG tracing, all in 3 D. A still of this movie is attached below (the complete movie is 5.9 Mbytes, 1 will send it to you via, US mail in a CD). This would be similar to what would be seen with the Oscilloscope SVEC viewer that Otto built It is a modern implementation of his idea, and can be shown on a laptop, powerpoint audience, etc. Perhaps we can use this video in Otto's website. We can talk more about this if you are interested. Warm regards,
